As a mature student going back to college might be daunting, I have always wanted to study Law but I wasn’t sure if its something I could undertake and excel in given the academic and literature text the program has to offer. Though I had been to college before the last time I had sat in a classroom was 2013 and I had my doubts about going back to college. However, I decided to enrol for a Legal Administration course with Cork College of Commerce. This was my way of testing the waters and help me detemine if Law was something I could handle.
I must say from the interview, it was axiomatic how supportive the stuff is. They answered all the questions I had, in a professional manner. After the interview I couldn’t wait to start and when eventually started I was impressed with the rich diversity of students, smaller classroom groups which encourage interactive learning. Within a few days I was able to build my confidence and learning was made easy with the staff going an extra mile to help, not only me but other students as well to reach their objectives.
The College organised informations sessions on career guidance, with guests speakers from a vast majority including experts in different fields to help answer any question or concerns students might have. This and other experiences prepared me for my next step which was enrolling with UCC. Cork college of Commerce boosted my confidence, provided me with a solid foundation of my Degree and the necessary skills required for one to be confident whether in progressing with their studies or diving straight into work.. I am now in UCC studying Law and Business and grateful for the knowledge and skills I attained at Cork College of Commerce. I would encourage and advise anyone who might be in a place where I was a year ago to consider Cork College of Commerce.
Timothy J. Hegarty & Son were delighted to liaise with Cork ETB as the students we employ from Legal Administration have always been of a very high calibre Obviously it is important for us as a legal firm to employ staff with knowledge and good skill sets and who have an enthusiastic and practical approach to their work. Four important members of our staff are all graduates from Cork College of Commerce and all are valued members of our team.
Last year I did QQI Level 5 Certificate in Office Administration, Medical and Dental Receptionist. I found the College of Commerce most welcoming and the teachers so helpful and encouraging. I gained confidence in myself as a person and found the whole experience helped me in my future career.
I found myself going back to education after 10 years, it was daunting but helped me grow and showed me how enjoyable college life can be. I got a full-time job in the dental practice where I did my work experience and am now continuing my education in UCC.
I was a student of Level 5 Reception and Customer Care. It was a wonderful course where I gained much confidence. The Cork College of Commerce opened up new paths and the experience was invaluable. Overall I would say that the Cork College of Commerce was a wonderful College.
