Students will receive the following qualifications if they pass all exams.

  • ITEC Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Specialists
  • ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Facial Electrical Treatments
  • QQI Level 5 Beauty Therapy Award
When will I get an offer of a place if I am successful?2022-04-12T17:02:33+01:00

Applicants who complete and return the processing form before 1st June will receive offers of a place before June 3rd. All applications made over the summer will be processed in August and applicants will be notified late August/early September.

Is there a lot of theory on the course?2022-04-12T16:55:45+01:00

Yes, there is a lot of theory to learn. There are 27 hours of timetabled classes per week, 13 hours of which are for theory

What are the entry requirements?2022-04-12T16:52:31+01:00

Leaving Cert standard (regular Leaving Cert or LCA) for students under 21 years of age. Experience in the area or a genuine passion for the beauty industry would be beneficial for mature students.

What options are available to me if I complete the course?2022-04-12T16:58:45+01:00

Students who successfully complete the course and achieve a full award may progress onto the CIDESCO Beauty Therapy Diploma course (Level 6). Alternatively, they may enter the workplace as a qualified beautician in a salon or spa.

What do I need to do to get a place on the course?2022-04-12T16:56:46+01:00

Apply through our website www.corkcollegeofcommerce.ie and complete the online application form. You will subsequently be sent a processing form with a series of questions to complete eg reasons for applying for the course etc.

How long does the course run for?2022-04-12T16:54:41+01:00

The course will run from September to May. It is a full-time day course. Four days in the college and one day on work placement.

Is Biology an entry requirement?2022-04-12T16:53:04+01:00

Biology is not an entry requirement though it is an advantage to have studied it for Leaving Cert as there is a lot of Anatomy & Physiology on the course.

Is there work experience on this course?2022-04-12T16:55:10+01:00

Yes, students complete the QQI Level 5 Work Experience module and will be timetabled to go on work placement one day per week during the year. Students are asked to find their own work placement where possible.

How much does the course cost?2022-04-12T16:53:41+01:00

The course costs €687 which includes exam fees (QQI and ITEC), student services and materials payable to Cork College of Commerce

Are there any other costs involved?2022-04-12T17:02:04+01:00

Yes, students will be required to purchase 2 uniforms and kits (waxing, skincare/body and make up) as well as textbooks, which cost approximately €585 in total. These amounts are payable directly to the suppliers and the amounts are subject to change.
