Study and Computer Facilities - Study Hall
Monday – Wednesday: 8 am – 9.30 pm and Thursday – Friday: 8 am – 4.45 pm
There are a number of individual pods/areas available in the Study Hall where you can use a study space and/or your laptop.
Open Access Computer Room
There is also a computer room assigned for open access. G11 and M13 are student computer facilities with walk in access for students to use, and at times Student TEL/IT facilitators are available for TEL/IT student support.
Canteen
This is on the ground floor of the main building. The food served here varies from sandwiches to freshly prepared salads, homemade soup, chunky chips, and lots more. It is open from 8.30 am Monday – Friday.
Vending Machines
Vending Machines are in both the Main College building and Morrison’s Hub, These have tea/coffee, minerals and chocolate.
Recreation Area
The College has a recreation area on the second floor of the main building, commonly known as “The Roof”. Smoking is permitted in this area only. Students are asked to keep this area clean.
Reception
The reception is located on the ground floor and is opened Monday -Friday 9.00am – 4.30pm.
College Crèche
The College Crèche is a purpose-built community facility, Cuddles Creche, situated on 107/108 Douglas Street. Places are limited. For further information and applications please phone 021 425 5566 or Email: creche@stjohnscollege.ie They cater for children from 1 to 5 years and provide hot dinners and snacks daily. They operate the ECCE and National Childcare Scheme.
An allowance will be paid towards crèche places in a private or community day care centre. You are advised to look for a crèche place as soon as possible. Please contact the City or County Childcare Committee’s for up-to-date information on allowances as they are in a constant state of flux. The Purple Pod
Some of our courses are enhanced by the opportunity to work in The Purple Pod, a simulated work environment, giving students a chance to work with the pressures and deadlines of every day work.
The Jobs Hub
The Jobs Hub is a dedicated space to allow you to prepare in a variety of ways for the world of work. It is located in D02, in the ground floor of the college. Appointments can be booked for CV review, interview preparation and other options. To book an appointment, you can use the link on the student app or on the student intranet.
Assistive Technology Suite
There is an Assistive Technology room with a range of hardware and software available, for students who are registered with our Disability Officer.
